Welcome to Camp Wapo!
Theme for Summer 2009
"Called!" A study of discipleship!
"Hello?…God?…Sure, that sounds just fine. A veterinarian you say? I wasn’t thinking that at all, what about a financial planner, I like helping people reach their dreams…Okay, very well, a Vet it is." Have you been "Called" lately? Where have you been called? How do you respond to this calling? Rarely is the call this clear. More than likely the call is subtle and persistent. Your friends and family may have already spoken it into you, you may have already started to hear it in middle school, you may already have heard the Masters voice in High School, or maybe not. Don’t worry – all God’s children are called. Throughout the scriptures ordinary people were "called" by God to change their ways and live according to His will. Moses, David, Elijah, Samuel, the disciples, and countless others throughout the Bible heard God’s call, "Come, follow me," and they responded by saying, "Here I am Lord." Just like Moses, David, and the disciples, each of us are called to respond in faithful obedience. But what does that look like in your life? Throughout each week, we will explore our callings as Christians in the world and look at how we might respond according to His will. We will be looking at men and women from the Old Testament along with the stories of the disciples to see who called you and when, what might that look like and how, where will it play out and why it is all a part of the call. Kids will have a chance to create memories that will last a lifetime, meet a lot of great people, play a lot of games, sing a ton of songs, all while growing in discipleship or our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Please, come and spend the week with us at Wilderness, Wapo, Ox Lake, or Luther Dell to help fine tune your ears and your hearts to the mighty call of God.
