Guidelines for the rebuilding of the infrastructure of Wilderness Canoe Base to continue its Ministry for the Lord

  • Be respectful of the land God has given us.
  • Be respectful of the environment in which the ministry occurs.
  • Be respectful of the laws and codes of the government over its jurisdiction.

Background and need for rebuilding

On May 5, 2007 a forest fire began in the Ham Lake area of northern Minnesota. It was quickly out of control and engulfed and destroyed over 77,000 acres before it was eventually extinguished. The destruction included a major share of Wilderness Canoe Base, eliminating two thirds of the structures in the camp. While it was a tremendous blow to the operations of the camp, the fire can also be looked upon as an opportunity to rebuild the infrastructure of the Wilderness Canoe Base ministry. To that end many hours and much effort has been, and will be, extended by the staff and volunteers of the ministry. The following is an overview of the on going planning to rebuild.
